Tony Hutton

Tony Hutton has been a player of significance on the Australian scene for several decades. He learned to play bridge at the age of 12, discovering duplicate some five years later whilst at university. His career was in computers as a software analyst and. Later, as a futures trader.

Other interests include backgammon. He competed in two World Championships, running 5th in Monte Carlo in 1980. He also won two Australian Open tournaments. Tony was originally Sydney-based and was the New South Wales Bridge Association treasurer for three years.

He moved to Brisbane in 2012 and his playing record in Queensland since then speaks for itself. Now regarded as a true-blue Queenslander, he is ranked as No. 4 in the State Masterpoint listings - a Gold Grandmaster with over 6000 points to his credit. Tony had a long-lasting friendship with Tony Jackman, informally assisting him at times with some aspects of the running of the Gold Coast Congress. He is currently a member of the QBA Tournament Committee.
